Strong GDP growth reassures freelancers

IPSE has responded to the latest GDP figures. They show the UK economy grew by 0.6% in the final quarter of 2016.

Lorence Nye, IPSE Economic Adviser, commented: “Freelancers will be relieved to see that the economy has remained resilient since the EU referendum. Things are looking up for the smallest businesses; IPSE research, published today, shows confidence has recovered, and average day rates are now slightly higher than they were at the start of the 2016.

“However, freelancers are concerned about the impact of Brexit on their ability to do business. Almost half (47%) told us this could be a problem for them in 2017, and many are concerned that the weakened pound, rising inflation, and post-Brexit uncertainty could lead to economic turbulence in the future.”
