IPSE response to consultation on IR35 in the public sector
IPSE has submitted its response to the Government consultation on plans to change the way IR35 works for public sector engagements. The proposal is to shift liability for determining IR35 status to the public sector client or agency and then, if caught, apply taxes as they would for their employees, through the RTI system.
We believe this proposal is dangerous. It will force contractors out of the public sector, create huge problems around employment rights and prevent the delivery of vital public services.
We now want all contractors to write to their MP to tell them how this proposal will affect them.
IPSE will keep working to protect UK contractors. Follow #UKneedsContractors on Twitter for the latest news from our campaign. Get your fellow contractors to join IPSE now through the Member Get Member scheme. The larger we are as a membership, the greater the power of our voice in Government.
