Simon McCartney

Simon is an experienced Service Design and Transition freelance consultant with over 15 years experience in client facing environments, whether on client sites directly or remotely working with teams across borders and time zones.

Having started in the public sector with West Yorkshire Police covering a spread of technology and strategy roles including acting as the technical lead as the force undertook two pilot programs with Blackberry mobile devices. The first focused on providing mobile office capabilities to 30 chief officers, and the second, which looked at mobile access to the Police National Computer.

Latterly working with a variety of high profile clients, on projects which included Critical National Infrastructure, Simon has led the design and development of enterprise service management solutions across many sectors such as telecommunications, utilities, gambling and defence as well as central government departments.

Simon joined the Consultative Council in 2016 and is a passionate supporter of the Northern Powerhouse initiative, and expanding IPSE from its traditional London and the South East centric, he is also keenly inlvoed in IPSE’s various campaigns including National Freelancer Day and #UnfairIR35.

Simon is a qualified scuba diver, a keen photographer and is kept busy with a large family and countless pets.
